• Design and prepare reports concerning police department operations, calls for service and <br />crime statistics for police department members and supervisor, city administration, police <br />commissions, contract cities and police department supervisors. <br />• Collect and collate pertinent statistical data regarding police and crime statistics that may <br />tend to identify and suggest implications for police procedures. <br />• Ensure that the information collected by the Orono Police complies with legal <br />requirements and the policies set by the entities that maintain and disseminate law <br />enforcement records and information. (Comprehensive law enforcement data, records <br />retention, etc.) <br />• Provide reports to the public (media, insurance companies, etc.) in compliance with state <br />statutes under the direction of the chief of police. <br />• In cooperation with other designated city departments (IT support staff), ensure that all <br />police department computers, software and peripherals operate at optimum efficiency by <br />coordinating replacement, repair, security, user training and trouble -shooting. <br />• Schedule squad cars for maintenance and repair. <br />• Process reports on alcohol and tobacco compliance checks for businesses and city <br />councils. <br />• Conduct monthly validations of hot files entries and update records as needed. <br />• Maintain records of false alarms. Send notifications to homeowners on a weekly basis <br />and to each of the three municipalities for billing purposes on a monthly basis. <br />• Police department liaison to Orono IT, Records Management System provider (LOGIS), <br />Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (CJRS/CJIS), FBI (NCIC), Security System <br />Administrator and Hennepin County Courts. <br />• Ensure integrity of state and federal databases through policy implementation, training <br />and documentation. <br />• Conduct and review criminal history records for criminal case files, permits, licensing <br />and background checks. <br />• Transcribe case file narratives, statements, search warrants, correspondence, reports, etc. <br />from voice recordings, direct dictations or drafts which are needed for investigation and <br />prosecution ensuring a professional, accurate work project. <br />• Streamline and implement process for the reproduction, storage and records of <br />dissemination of data including data contained on DVDs, videotapes, digital voice <br />recordings and photos and release as approved. Collect appropriate fees, provide receipts <br />and maintain records regarding release of information. <br />• Maintain users and information in the LiveScan system as a secondary administrator. <br />Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities <br />Knowledge: <br />• Clerical Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as <br />word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing <br />forms, and other office procedures and terminology. <br />• English Language Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language <br />including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. <br />The City of Orono is an Equal Opportunity Employer <br />32 <br />
