- Issued a total of 5,688 citations in the four <br />communities of which 3,364 were in Orono. <br />- Improved customer service by placing squad identities <br />for the contract cities together with Orono. <br />- Utilized the services of a part time officer to aid in <br />providing service at a reduced cost. <br />PUBLIC WORKS AND TRANSPORTATION - Significant areas have <br />included: <br />- Substantial completion of County Road 15 construction <br />which included improved street lights, the addition of <br />sidewalks and a broader, safer traveled surface. <br />- Highway 12 which has now been programmed for a safety <br />improvement for 1991 between North Brown Road and Old <br />Crystal Bay together with further work regarding a <br />longterm solution through an Ad Hoc Committee of the six <br />communities on Highway 12 in this area. <br />- Passage of a water conservation ordinance to assist in <br />the preservation of this valuable resource. <br />- The Parks Commission developed both a work program and a <br />Bike Hike Trail Comprehensive Plan for the community <br />which was approved by the Council. <br />Increased recycling efforts by meeting goals through the <br />joint powers agreement for recycling and authorizing the <br />cujbside pick up of recyclables commencing in 1989. <br />ADMININSTRATION - Significant issues included: <br />- Adoption of an investment policy. <br />- Implementation of a formal compensation plan together <br />with part time benefits. <br />- Drafting of a capital budget. <br />- Improved records management and disposal by greater <br />micro-f' ming, shredding and recycling of paper together
