spring Park and Minnetonka Beach. <br />- Hii Kiling 300 complaints regarding possible violations of <br />codes. <br />- Initiating 15 hazardous building actions. <br />- Continuing the septic inspection progt^-m with 440 <br />sy terns inspected in 1988. <br />PUBLIC SAFETY - The Police Department continued to provide a wide <br />range of citizen safety and emergency services including the <br />followings <br />- Drug enforcement, which resulted in 38 arrests. <br />- A new emphasis during 19FS on DWI and minor alcohol <br />consumption which resulted in 273 DWI arrests and 130 <br />arrests of minors. <br />- DARE (Drug Awareness and Resistance Education) this <br />program was undertaken to strengthen grade school <br />children's level of resistance to abuse of substances. <br />- 368 vehicle accidents of which there ’ere 3 fatals. <br />- Increased computerization of the department with a <br />second on-line State computer. <br />- Successfully solved 2 Super Valu robberies and the <br />"Crappie Contest Caper". <br />- Handled sigr ficant traffic ncobl as a result of <br />construction on County Road 1 5*. <br />- Undertook cooperative truck enforcement programs with <br />the State vhich resulted in 77 citations, 640 warnings <br />issued and 51 vehicles put out of service. <br />- Recommended Officers Tomcheck and Morowczynski for <br />Officer of the Year as the result of their successful <br />efforts rescue a homeowner during a fire.
