Bernhardson, City Administrat<^'^ ^ <br />'V <br />July 12, 1991 <br />c// <br />Highway 12 Corridor Study , _ <br />'a 'VATTACHMENTS - <br />a) Strgar-Rosco-Fausch Dated 7/10/91 <br />B) SFR Letter Dated 7/16/91 <br />C) Transportation Consultant - Request for Proposals <br />5/21/91 ^ <br />D) MnDot/Highway 12 Corridor Schedule Dated 6/18/91 <br />ISSUE <br />Determine whether the Council wants to undertake a formal <br />arrangement with the Transportation Consultant, Strgar-Rosco- <br />Fausch (SRF), to do a systems transportation planning as it <br />relates to Highway 12 and other transportation issues. <br />INTRODUCTION - <br />A few members of the Council and myself have met with the <br />firm SRF to determine what role they would desire to play in <br />assisting the City of Orono in the development of an appropriate <br />corridor for the upgrade of Highway 12 and transportation issues <br />related to that. <br />1 <br />ii..' <br />%I <br />DISCUSSION - <br />The results of these discussions are summarized in <br />Attachment A. Attachment C. outlines types of services the City <br />sought generally last year from a transportation consultant. <br />Given the strong recommendation as the calibur of work done by <br />SRFr it is the recommendation of the City Administrator and two <br />Council Members that SRF be engaged as outlined in Attachment A <br />to assist the City in the following areas: <br />- Advice as to the appropriate process; <br />- Reaction or advice on transporation information; <br />- Appropriate contacts in the process for development of <br />creative solutions to the system process. <br />In addition, they would be utilized to analyze transporation <br />impacts of the Highway 12 corridor and how the City’s road system <br />and what alternatives the City should undertake in the <br />development of its transportation chapter for its Comprehensive <br />Plan which may need an amendment as a result of this corridor <br />study .
