r. <br />r’ <br />t <br />•‘i <br />'■.t <br />» <br />h>x <br />h <br />y-> <br />■‘i <br />.fa <br />.fa- <br />‘^rx- <br />Position Profile <br />-4- <br />Presenl information to Council, giving Council options along with a recommendation <br />*High comfort level in dealing with a well-informed, well-educated citizenry. <br />*Assist Council in explaining to the citizens the need for the public process and <br />the "rules" of government. <br />*Comfort level in dealing with a large variety of people and an orientation towards <br />listening to citizen's concerns. <br />Good command of the English language and good public speaking skills <br />•Ability to handle several items at one time, taking an analytical approach to <br />setting priorities. <br />Strengthen communications between various departments and build a strong staff <br />team. <br />•Have a professional altitude toward public administration and encourage that <br />professionalism among staff members. <br />*Be approachable, open, listen to staff problems <br />•Take an interest in each department and understand all phases of the operation <br />•Be a coach to employees and assist them w ith their needs. <br />•Assist Council in making the distinction between policy and administration, and <br />have the courage to keep Council on track and in a policy making role. <br />Community Priorities <br />•Deal with MnDot and other metro agencies to upgrade the Highway 12 Corridor <br />•Work with Council, staff, the architect, and the construction manager to complete the <br />construction of the new public City facility including City Hall, Police Station and <br />Public Works facility. <br />*Work with the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District in developing an appropriately <br />revised comp.ehensive plan fo' that organization. <br />*Develop and adopt a revised shoreland management requirement <br />•Develop a plan which will encourage the installation of sanitary sewer in unsewered <br />areas, particularly those which are environmentally sensitive. <br />♦Work with the contract communities to negotiate police contract services for 1992.
