Gabriel Jabbour-Mayor
RE: Ollcn Brolhers Nursery Greenhouse Addilion
Page 2
October 6, 1998
beepers and dropping tailgates. This noise can begin as early as 5:00 AM, continue throughout the day
and last until after 9:00 PM.
4. Otten’s paging system is a series of loudspeakers which, obviously, project noise outside of Otten’s
property and continue throughout business hours.
In short, it appears as a condition of Otten’s business operations, 1 am required to have a materials dump
and motor pool in plain sight of my property and suffer the noise of both Otten’s retail and landscaping
operations. Frankly, 1 can’t believe the planning commission would have approved Otten’s landscaping
operations, particularly with regard to its current magnitude and within the city limits, had they understood
what those operations entailed. Had I known, I can tell you 1 would not have bought the property.
However, what’s done is done. My interest, now, involves the mitigation of Otten’s business effect on my
peace of mind and property value. 1 have been willing to compromise toward that goal. However, my
patience is wearing thin and depending on my time, temper and resources, this matter will be settled with
your intercession or by the court. Hopefully, you and the City Council can come up with an appropriate
remedy to the situation which will satisfy both Ottens and myself and spare us all from further attention to
the matter. Certainly, 1 would consider any addition to the scope of Otten’s operations on the present site,
at this point in time, to be ill advised.
I am at your disposal to discuss the matter in person.
Sincetely,>.—
Patrick Pugh
cc: Otten Brothers Nursery
