ORDINANCE NUMBER , SECOND SERIES <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF ORONO <br />BY DEFINING AND AND PROVIDING FOR <br />INTERIM AND TEMPORARY USES OF LAND <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORONO ORDAINS: <br />Section 1. The municipal code of Orono is hereby amended by adding the following Definition <br />to Zoning Code Section 10.02: <br />"Use, Interim" - A temporary use of property until a particular date, or until the occurrence <br />of a particular event, or until zoning regulations no longer permit it, as determined by the <br />City Council. <br />Section 2. <br />follows. <br />The municipal code of Orono is hereby amended by adding Section 10.14 to read as <br />SEC. 10.14. INTERIM USES. <br />Subd. 1 . Interim Uses: Purpose. Certain properties within the City are <br />subject to future acquisition for right-of-way of Highway 12, and those properties <br />may in some cases be unsuitably situated or not financially feasible on a short-term basis for <br />any of the permitted or conditional uses allowed by the Zoning Chapter. However, certain <br />uses under certain conditions may be appropriate for such properties for a limited period of <br />time, but which a’*** i.c * generally appropriate on a permanent basis, which are not consistent <br />with land uses designuted on the adopted Land Use Plan, and which are not identified as <br />allowable permitted or conditional uses within the respective zoning. .trict. The purpose <br />of this ordinance is to allow' such uses for a brief and limited period of time at the discretion <br />of the City Council. In order to achieve these purposes, the City Council is empowered to <br />grant and to deny applications for interim use permits and to impose reasonable conditions <br />upon the granting of these permits. <br />Subd. 2. Interim Uses: Procedure. Applications for interim use permits shall <br />be processed in tl:e same manner as conditional use permits as established in Section 10.09 <br />of the Zoning Chapter. <br />the following: <br />Subd. 3.
