r
N
‘)
5 ?■
LTERNATIVE 2:
An 24 foot wide road (existing width), divided into two lanes.
A 30 mph speed limit (a reduction of 10 mph).
A 6” cement curb and a storm sewer.
No walking/bike path.
• No on-street parking.
•Ve are concerned that a road wider than the existing road will lead to more speeding and increase the volume of
raffle using the road. This may reduce safety (for vehicles and pedestrians) and possibly increase the accident
rate. Keeping the road at the existing width and reducing the "*d limit should ensure this road continues to stay
safe for the foreseeable future.
After analyzing the impact of various road design alternatives, we concluded that maintaining the existing rural
nature of the road, could only occur by maintaining the existing road width (e.g. Alternative 2 above). We believe
that Alternative 1 represents a compromise between increasing the recreational use of the road for residents while
maintaining some of the rural nature of the road.
Next Steps ',.
Make your opinion count! As residents, your opinion is important to the cities. Please complete the
“Ferndale Residents Response Form ” (see below) by Friday October 10. The majority opinion will be
presented to the cities before the next public meeting.
Ferndale Road Area Association
Plymouth: Martin Gardner (473-2254) Terry Knight (473-5845)
Stewart Dietz (475-2487) Barb Powell (476-1833)
Orono; Mary King (476-8589) Wayzata: Donna Hanson (476-1518)
142 Chevy Chase Dr. 1 ^ Ridgeview Dr.______
pERND^C RESIDENTS RESPONSE FORM
Your Name:
Street Address:City:
Cities Proposal:
Alternative 1:
Alternative 2:
Comments:
36’ Road + Bike/Walking path (see above for details)
24 ’ Road + BikeAValking path (see above for details)
24 ’ Road (see above for details)
PLEASE MAIL TO: STEWART DIETZ, 615 ALVARADO LANE, PLYMOUTH, MN 55447
Note: If you know an e.xpert on storm drains / water drainage, please provide details.
