Administration of Sick Leave. The following procedures will <br />be followed in administering the sick leave policy of the City: <br />a. The use of sick leave will be prorated in units of not <br />less than one (1) hour. <br />b. <br />c. <br />d. <br />e. <br />f. <br />After all accrued sick leave is used, vacation leave may <br />be used, and payment made therefor, to the extent the <br />employee is entitled to such leave, but in no case shall <br />the employee take more than the accrued balance of the <br />two. <br />Sick leave will be allowed in case of personal illness, <br />necessary medical appointments or physical incapacity of <br />an employee. Sick leave shall not be allowed for <br />absences due to the following: Use of intoxicants, <br />willful misconduct, or any illness or injury incurred <br />while self-employed or employed by other than the City. <br />When an employee is absent from work by reason of an <br />injury incurred during the course of City employment, a*".' <br />is receiving Worker's Compensation benefits for sui <br />injury, the employee may charge to accumulated sick leave <br />the difference between the employee's net City take home <br />pay and Worker's Compensation benefits to the extent of <br />accrued sick leave and/or vacation benefits. <br />To receive credit for sick leave, an employee must <br />communicate with the employee's immediate supervisor <br />prior to the time set for beginning work, or as provided <br />by departmental rules. Employees are also responsible <br />for keeping their supervisor advised of their illness <br />status to remain eligible for sick leave, unless <br />hospitalized, in which case reasonable efforts will be <br />made to keep the Supervisor abreast of the employee's <br />status. <br />Any employee using sick leave or absent from work due to <br />an injury incurred during hours of employment may be <br />required to furnish the City with a physician's statement <br />indicating the nature of the sickness or injury, and <br />attesting to the employee's inability to work. No <br />employee who has been on sick leave for more than three <br />(3) consecutive days shall be allowed to return to work <br />without a physician's statement. The City at its option <br />may require the employee be evaluated by the City's <br />specified physician. <br />Accumulated sick leave cannot be transferred from one <br />employee to another employee.
