Mr. Dunn stated he <br />ftit th# City had not researched the * ssue enough and provided <br />fi#m#S of contacts. Jabbour said he ta' ced to a Fred Hunt, <br />Consulting Engineer and expert on floating oocks, who reported that <br />ths styrofoam is the worst possible way of doing anything. Hunt <br />said there are issues that no one has thought about Including the <br />danger of using styrofoam around gas and oi I , and ultra-violet rays <br />breaking up the foam faster, jabbour stated that United Design <br />A^HQ^Intion reported that if the styrofoam is to be e'icased, it <br />should be done with a metal and plastic layer. Nell Ross, President <br />of International Marine Institute, stated that styrofoam Is a <br />nation-wide problem. Jabbour said that everyone he talked to was <br />willing to back the City’s position. <br />It was moved by Callahan, seconded by Butler, to adopt Ordinance <br />#104, Second Series, witli the following corrections: <br />First page, subdivision l - "Docks, platforms, byPYAx and <br />other floating structures. . <br />Change "City waters" to "City limits'. <br />Subdivision 1 - "Gasoline, fumes, <br />fumes. <br />delete the word <br />Subdivision 3, Page 2 - include buoys. <br />Subdivision 3, Paragraph B - "This exception does not <br />include repairing or replacing the existing styrofoam. <br />Ayes 3, nays 0.
