p <br />r. <br />affects the physical components of any new or existing system, <br />including construction, installation, extension, alteration or <br />repair, not to include pumping. <br />5. "Contractor" - A person licensed under the <br />provisions of the City Code to engage in the business of system <br />construction and pumping. <br />6. "Disposal" - The evaporation or absorption of <br />purified liquids after treatment of the raw sewage. <br />7. "Holding Tank" - A water tight tank for storage <br />of sewage until the sewage can be transported to an approved off <br />site point of treatment and disposal. <br />8. "Inspection Report" - The official report of the <br />results of the inspection by the City, including any official <br />orders to repair or replace non-conforming systems. <br />9. "MPCA Regulations Chapter 7080" - Minnesota <br />Pollution Control Agency Individual Sewage Treatment Standards <br />Chapter 7080. <br />10. "On-site Sewage Treatment System" (hereinafter <br />"system" or "on-site system") - A device or series of intercon <br />nected components designed, installed and maintained for the pur <br />pose of safely treating and disposing of sewage and domestic <br />wastes from a dwelling or other establishment or group thereof, <br />whenever such system is not part of a central sewer system. <br />(a) System Design Definitions: <br />i. "Standar^^ System" - An individual <br />sewage treatment system employing a building sewer, sewage tanks, <br />and the soil treatment system, consisting of trenches or mounds <br />which are constructed on original soil which has a percolation rate <br />equal to or faster than 120 minutes per inch. <br />ii. "Alternative System" - Alternative <br />systems include modified standard systems (seepage beds, curtain <br />drained systems) reduced area systems (aerobic tanks, separated <br />toilet waste and greywater systems, seasonal use systems); advanced <br />alternative systems (mounds with percolation rate slower than 120 <br />mpi, collection systems, other systems such as toilet waste <br />treatment devices, etc.); and holding tanks. <br />iii. "Prohibited Systems" - Cesspools, <br />dry wells, leaching or seepage pits, and privies. <br />(b) System Construction Status Definitions: <br />i. "New System" - Any proposed system or <br />any newly constructed system, which construction takes place after <br />the adoption of this Section, shall be a "new system” until the <br />time of final inspection and approval by the City. <br />ii. "Existing System" - Any system con <br />structed and in use prior to the adoption of this Section. "New <br />L
