20 <br /> <br /> <br />Kohlton Beck joined our CSO-Cadet program in 2023. He is a Delano <br />High School graduate and is in his first year of the two-year program at <br />Alexandria Technical College. He is also an Orono Police Explorer. <br /> <br /> <br />Promotions <br /> <br />Tony Wittke was promoted to Deputy Chief on May 29, 2023. He has <br />been with the department for 26 years and was a sergeant for more <br />than 16 years. He began his career as a reserve officer, promoted to <br />police officer, sergeant and has also served as an instructor for Use of <br />Force and Firearms. Congratulations Tony! <br /> <br /> <br />Ryan Spencer was promoted to sergeant on May 29, 2023. He has <br />been with the department for more than 10 years and overall has 18 <br />years of experience as a police officer. Within his time here at Orono, <br />Sgt. Spencer has been a field training officer (FTO), and served <br />positions on the drug task force, the Use of Force and Firearms <br />instructor teams and Lake Minnetonka SWAT. Congratulations Ryan! <br /> <br />Retirements / Departures <br /> <br />Chris Fischer started as a police reserve in December of 1989. He was <br />hired as a full-time police officer on June 8, 1998, was promoted to <br />sergeant in 2005 and in January of 2013 was promoted to Deputy Chief. <br />Fischer served more than 30 years in law enforcement, with his entire <br />career being on the Orono Police Department. His tenure also included <br />the positions of investigator, field training officer and a member of the <br />West Metro Drug Task Force. He retired on May 28, 2023. We wish him all the best in <br />retirement. <br />214
