(2) Intermediate arterial means a roadway intended to connect two or more subregions, provide <br /> secondary connections outstate and complements principal arterials in high-volume corridors. <br /> (3) Minor arterial means a roadway intended to connect adjacent subregions and activity centers <br /> within subregions. <br /> (4) Collector means a roadway intended to connect neighborhoods within and between subregions. <br /> (5) Local means a roadway intended to connect blocks within neighborhoods and specific activities <br /> within homogeneous land use areas. <br /> (6) Parkway means a roadway intended to provide low-speed and low-volume vehicular or bicycle <br /> access to or through recreational areas, parks and lakeshore. <br /> (7) Dead end means a roadway with only one vehicular-traffic outlet. <br /> (8) Private means a roadway for which the city or other political subdivision shall not be responsible <br /> for its maintenance and operation. <br /> (9) Public means any roadway for which the city or other political subdivision is or expects to be <br /> responsible for its maintenance and operation. <br /> Roadway right-of-way width means the distance between property lines measured at right angles to <br /> the centerline of the roadway. <br /> Setback means the minimum horizontal distance between a structure, system or facility and a natural <br /> feature,property line, right-of-way line, ordinary high water level, structure, system or other facility. <br /> Sewage treatment system, on-site, means a device or series of interconnected components designed, <br /> installed and maintained for the purpose of safely treating and disposing of sewage and domestic waste, <br /> whenever such system is not part of a municipal sewerage system. <br /> (1) Individual system means a system serving an individual building, typically a single-family <br /> residence. <br /> (2) Collective system means a system serving two or more buildings,typically including individual <br /> septic tanks connected to a common soil treatment and absorption area. <br /> (3) Commercial system means a system serving any nonresidential building. <br /> Screening means a manmade or natural visual barrier of a type that will form a year-round dense <br /> screen. <br /> Shade tree means a tree of approved species and size. <br /> Shoreline means a line denoting the ordinary high water elevation of any lake, stream or other body <br /> of water, which ordinary high water elevation shall be as established by the Minnehaha Creek Watershed <br /> District, department of natural resources,or any other agency,whichever elevation is the highest. <br /> Single ownership means ownership by the same person, corporation,firm, entity,partnership or <br /> unincorporated association; or ownership by different corporations, firms, partnerships,entities or <br /> unincorporated associations, in which a stockholder, partner, or associate, or a member of their family <br /> owns an interest in each corporation, firm,partnership,entity or unincorporated association. <br /> Slope means vertical distance in feet per 100 feet of horizontal distance. <br /> State means the State of Minnesota <br /> Street means the same as Roadways. <br /> Structure means anything which is built, constructed or erected, an edifice or building of any kind, or <br /> any piece of work artificially built up or composed of parts joined together in some definite manner, <br /> Final Draft page 5 <br />
