The authorized strength is <br />a total of five part time officers. We are currently in a hiring process tor that <br />officer. <br />The Police Department is in the process of reorganizing its patrol supervision to <br />put more officers on the street while improving the supervision of officers. <br />The new police facility meets Federal and State requirements for police facilities <br />which significantly reduces liability risks. The facility also enables more effective <br />processing of prisoners and interviewing of crime suspects and victims. <br />The Police Department has an excellent police records system which enables the <br />Department to provide individualized activity data for each contract city. <br />Orono recently upgraded to a state-of-the art finance and accounting system which <br />will enhance its ability to provide timely financial reports, and will enable the <br />generation of custom reports in response to the needs of the contract cities. <br />The percentage of reported crimes solved is higher tor Spring Park than for <br />Mound, Wayzata, or Orono. (see attached clearance rate table) <br />The City is planning to add a sixteenth (T6th) sworn officer to the department in 1995. <br />This would increase the number of officers providing base coverage from nine (9) to ten (10). <br />The additional officer will improve police services in each of the police service cities.
