Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />Cit>' of Spring Park <br />June 21, 1994 <br />page 2 <br />F <br />agreement for police services <br />rr^rnmitment to Qual ity- and Resr^jnsivenesS <br />The City of Orono and the police department began to cany- out their commitment to <br />provide top quality services and a high level of responsiveness in 1993. The police services <br />proposal for 1994 included a substantial cost reduction through a change in the cost allocation <br />formula that had been requested by the City of Spring Park. A number of other contract <br />language changes were made in response to concerns raised by the Sprmg Park Ctty Attorney. <br />One of the more signiftcam changes was the additvn of language to identify the speciftc reasons <br />for which an officer could leave the City of Spring Park to respond to a call in another city. <br />Orono has continued its efforts to improve responsiveness and the quality of services in <br />1994. The City Administrator and Police Chief meet monthly with the Spring Park Police <br />Commission to review police activities and to discuss and address concerns. A quarterly <br />meeting of all of the police cities has been held to review police services. A 'precinct sution" <br />has been set up in the Spring Park City Hall to enable officers to make phone calls and complete <br />paper work in Spring Park rather than having to remm to the Orono Police Department office. <br />A policy has been developed which provides direction to the officers regarding the specific <br />reasons an officer can leave Spring Park to respond to a call in another city. A report has also <br />been developed which lists each time a Spring Park Officer leaves the city, the reason, and the <br />length of time.
