N <br />§ 11.32 <br />6. Cul-de-sacs shall be discouraged; proposed <br />roadways shall be ex tended to the bounde ry lines of the tract to be <br />subdivided, unless prevented by topography or other physical condi- <br />j-Qj. unl0ss in the ooinion of the City such extension is not <br />necessary or desirable for the coordination of the layout of the <br />subdivision with the existing layout or the most advantageous <br />future development of adjacent tracts. <br />7. In business and industrial developments, <br />the roadwavs and other accessway? shall be planned in connection <br />vy" £th *"he grouoinQ ot buildings, location of rail facilities, and <br />the*provisions* of' alleys, truck loading and maneuve"ing areas, and <br />walks and parking a'eas so as to minimize conflict of movemen\_ <br />between the various types of traffic, including pedestrian, <br />C. Blocks. <br />orovide for two <br />1. <br />(2) <br />Blocks shall have sufficient width to <br />tiirs of lots of appropriate depths. <br />Exceotions to this piesciibed block width shall be permitted in <br />blocks adjacent to arterial roadways, railroads, or waterways. <br />2. The lengths, widths, and shapes of blocks <br />shall be such as are appropriate for the locality and the type of <br />development contemplated, but block lengths in residential areas <br />shall not exceed one thousand five hundred (1,500) feet or we ve <br />(12) times the minimum lot width required in the zoning district, <br />nor be less than foi.r hundred (400) feet in length from centerline <br />to centerline of adjacent streets. Wherever practicable, blocks <br />along arterials collector roadways shall be not less than one <br />thousand (1,000) feet in length. <br />3 In all blocks the City shall require the <br />the City through the center of blocks more than eight hundred (80 ) <br />feet long whure deemed essential to prcvido circulation of access <br />to schools, playgrounds, shopping centers, Shall becommunity facilities.
