Position Title: <br />Document Date: <br />Department: <br />Accountable to: <br />FLSA Status: <br />Nature of Work <br />CITY OF ORONO <br />Parks, Golf Course and Facilities Superintendent <br />October 17, 2023 <br />Parks and Facilities <br />City Administrator/City Engineer <br />Exempt <br />Responsible for Administering all functions of the Parks and Facilities Department including the <br />improvement and maintenance of city parks, city facilities, trails, natural/open space, grounds, lake access <br />points, and golf course as well as overseeing the recreation and events planning with in the parks system. <br />Supervision Received and Exercised <br />This position is supervised by the City Administrator/ City Engineer, and provides direct supervision to <br />parks workers, clubhouse manager, assistant superintendent, grounds keepers and custodians as well as <br />indirect supervision of clubhouse attendants. <br />Examples of Work <br />Essential functions listed below are intended as illustrations of the various types of work that may be <br />performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them if the work is similar, <br />related or a logical assignment to the position. <br />• Plans, coordinates, supervises, and reviews the activities of the department including daily, periodic, and <br />emergency maintenance and repair activities to maintain the City's parks, trails, golf course, facilities and <br />public spaces in safe and operational/useable condition. <br />Plans and coordinates city events and recreational activities. <br />• Develops an annual budget covering all functions of the Parks Department, and monitor expenditures to <br />ensure compliance with the budget. <br />• Supervises Parks, Facilities and Golf Course staff to include hiring, training motivating, evaluating, and <br />disciplining in accordance with city personnel policy and applicable collective bargaining. <br />• Ensures accurate tracking and reporting of service requests, tasks, and work orders in the cities <br />workflow management system to ensure requests are completed in a timely manner and the work effort <br />required to maintain specific assets is recorded. <br />• Works closely with GIS staff and the City Engineer to ensure the GIS mapping system and the asset <br />management system are kept up to date. <br />• Renders technical advice, both written and verbal, to the City Council and Advisory Boards and <br />Commissions and attends the City Council meetings and others as necessary. <br />The City of Orono is an Equal Opportunity Employer <br />
