MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE SCHOOL BOARD <br />OF ORONO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 278 <br />HELD ON MARCH 23, 1995 <br />A special meeting of the Board of Education of Orono Independent <br />School District No. 278 was held on March 23, 1995 at 4:00 p.m. <br />Present: James Franklin Martha Van de Ven <br />Peg Swanson Pamela Schroeder <br />Absent: John Maresh <br />Jack Veach <br />Thomas Mich <br />Neal Lawson <br />Dr. Mich reported that he and Neal Lawson had met with Todd Olson, <br />the Mayor of Long Lake, regarding the latest plans and discussion <br />of safety issues; that following the April ll Board meeting, a <br />workshop session will be held with Wold Architects for discussion <br />of the process that will be followed in the long-range plan; that <br />the article in the Sun Sailor regarding the facilities plan was <br />well done and that the findings and recommendations, etc. will be <br />in our April District Newsletter; that two candidates have filed <br />for the Board of Education - Dr. John Maresh and Dr. Bob Hoerr; <br />that Bruce Frahm has agreed to be the owner's representative for <br />the facilities plan and that the on March 22 the architects met <br />with administrators for an informational meeting. <br />Neal Lawson provided the Board with information on the process that <br />was followed in the selection of the Construction Manager. He <br />stated that the committee received responses for the "Request for <br />Proposal" from four construction management firms and three of <br />these firms were interviewed. The committee developed qualifying <br />factors that were used in the evaluation of each of the firms <br />interviewed resulting in their recommendation that E 4 V <br />Consultants and Construction Managers be approved as the <br />construction managers for the Orono School District. <br />UPON MOTION BY Martha Van de Ven seconded by Pamela Schroeder, the <br />Board of Education approved E 4 V Consultants and Construction <br />Managers as the construction managers for the Orono School District <br />pending contract negotiations. <br />Motion carried. <br />Mr. Frankl’.n stated that the next agenda item involves the <br />administration's proposal that a student be expelled from school <br />for the remainder of the school year. In order for administration <br />to inform the Board as to the facts underlying the recommendation <br />for expulsion a portion of the meeting must be closed to the <br />public. Following the discussion, the public portion of the <br />meeting will resume and the Board will vote on the expulsion <br />resolution.
