B2
Roseville, MN SS113
Dear Sirs:
It has just come to my attention that the latest
alternative to the Highway 12 construction may have
serious consequences for the Orono School District. In
the interest of achieving better communication, we are
concerned by the timeliness and means of notification
to the Orono School District. We believed that the
District would be informed and allowed to coioment on
alternatives that would effect student transportation
and safety.
It is my understanding that the alternative has only
two north/south roads that cross the "new" highway 12
in the vicinity of Orono and Long Lake. The obstructing
of Brown Road without providing some other way to cross
"new" highway 12 in that area, could potentially cause
serious time delays and/or cost inefficiencies for our
student transportation.
In addition, it appc^ars that Orono Orchard Road would
not cross the "new" Watertown Road. This again has
serious implications for student transportation unless
some other road was available for crossing "new"
Watertown Road in that general locality.
Please accept this letter as an expression of serious
concern over this alternative or any alternative that
would divide the Orono School District and
significantly effect the student transportation either
in efficiency or safety.
Sindl&rely,
:6mas Mich, Ph.D
cc: Ed Callahan, Mayor-
City of Orono
PC Box 66
Crystal Bay, MN 55323
1
