Bill Bruning
315 Silver Meadow Drive
Orono . MN 55356
May 19. 1996
Dear Mayor Callahan,
My family and I live in Orono, MN on a cul de sac through which MNDOT
has proposed to build highway 12 Our neighborhood of families, wild deer and
pheasant would be replaced by the 24 hour drone of traffic. I would consider this
"proposal" as a threat to my family's well being, our home as an investment and
my children's future. Besides the cost of anxiety and time spent to contest this
invasion, we are pressured to consider what legal actions to take. Our house
would be left on the bank of this freeway and MNDOT has informed us our only
compensation would be to file a lawsuit for hardships endured if we can't sell our
house. We don't want to sell our house. We do not want this highway in our
yard.
When MNDOT considers a highway development it must include not only
the cost of home displacement t Jt the financial loss of those homes left on the
side. We should not be told to forfeit what is rightfully ours. If this isn't
considered theft please advise me otherwise.
Our neighborhood has been put on hold for nine months. People have
stopped home improvements while they consider their options or lack there of.
Any assistance you could offer to protect our families and enable us to carry on
with our lives would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Yours Truly,
Bill Bruning
Bette, Melinda, Colin
& Stephen Bruning
MAY 2 2 1996
