Minneapolis, Minn.
Maxwell Bay Public
Access is closed now
Are you aware that Maxwell
Bay Public Access is closed to the
public in the w'inter months? An
access that was purchased partly
with our fishing license money
and the rest funded by and
approved by our Minnesota State
Legislature. The DNK was going .
to open it Jan. 1,1997, after doing
extensive tests to ensure that all
safety standards were met, but
was forced to leave it closed
because of our local Orono Qty
Dictatorship. Concerned Fisher-
persons should call Mayor JAB-
BOUR of Orono at 473-7358 and
ask him v\^hy ii is closed.
It is a sad state of affairs when
a local government has gotten so
much control that our rights as
Fishermen and Fisherwomen has
been taken nw^ay from us. Thi: is
the only Public Access in our
State that is closed just because of
the Orono City Officials that we
mistakenly elected. Just to
refresh your minds, it wms the
Citv of Orono that put up the
"N.. Farking/Tow Away Zone" ’ ;.
signs on Cty. Rd 51 and Tonkawa ;
Rd.
