tAr, CITY OF ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />1(L-. <br />E No.7374 <br />1 kEs I{00' <br />RESOLUTION FOR THE REMOVAL NAVARRE SERVICE AREA FROM THE LONG LAKE <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT SERVICE AREA AND RESUMPTION OF ORONO CONTROL AND <br />OPERATION OF THE NAVARRE FIRE STATION <br />WHEREAS,the City of Orono("City")must prepare for the end of the fire service contract with the Cities <br />of Medina and Long Lake December 31,2025;and <br />WHEREAS,the City must provide fire service coverage for its citizens;and <br />WHEREAS,The City Council wishes to move forward with a phased approach to the establishment of Orono <br />Fire Service beginning in July of 2024. <br />WHEREAS,The Current Long Lake Fire Service Contact provides for the adjustment of the fire service area. <br />WHEREAS,Navarre Fire Station(Station 2)was built for the sole purpose to service the citizens of Orono <br />and the Station 2 call area;and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />ORONO,MINNESOTA: <br />1. The City of Orono will assume responsibility for the Navarre Fire Service Area beginning on no later <br />than July 1, 2024. Further City Staff is directed to formally notify Long Lake and Medina of this change by <br />July 1,2023 per the current contract. <br />2. The City of Orono will resume responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the Navarre Fire <br />Station no later than July 1,2024.
