ORONO CrTY COUNCIL MEETING <br />MINUTES FOR AUGUST 9,1999 <br />(#2505 The Bancor Group, Continued) <br />noting that he would be in favor of higher density for this area. <br />Mayor Jabbour commented that credit should be given for the streets. <br />Gaffron stated under a PRD the City has allowed credit for roadways, noting that no credit is given <br />under a standard plat for streets. <br />Mayor Jabbour commented that the Applicant will need to appear before the Planning Commission <br />with their proposal once these issues are addressed. <br />Campion stated that they will continue to keep the buffering to the north and east, and will look at <br />trying to achieve a one acre zoning under a PRD with credit being given for the streets. <br />[AYOR/COUNCIL REPORT <br />Maybe Jabbour stated he has been contacted by one of the business owners, the owner of the <br />vacant^mmercial building adjacent to Highway 12 and Industrial Boulevard in Long Lake, <br />regarding*the possibility of constructing a service road to provide additional access to his business <br />from Old CrWal Bay Road. Jabbour stated he explained to the property owner the process that <br />needs to be f^k^ed and the City’s general philosophy regarding this matter. Jabbour cornmented <br />that the City's cuhrent comprehensive plan, which is in the process of being updated, is being made <br />obsolete in part bebwse of the new Highway 12 corridor. <br />tli^the <br />ion <br />area. Jabbour commented tltat the City has taken a position that they do not want an exit ramp <br />from new Highway 12 in this lo^tion. <br />Kelley stated he essentially told thel^resentative the same thing last week. Kelley commented <br />that the traffic counts by Mn/DOT are^t always accurate and that their numbers tend to differ from <br />the County's numbers. Kelley commented«,m his view the new Highway 12 corridor should be <br />constructed first <br />Mayor Jabbour suggested that the City Adminis^tor send a letter to the affected business owners <br />informing them that this issue has bean discussedV(^ that the City Council is interested in their <br />input on this matter. <br />Mayor Jabbour stated he has spo'Ken with the president oN^eat America who has stated that the <br />Dakota Rail will officially be shut down October 15, 19S9.
