1 <br />A RESOLUTION TO APPROVE <br />THE TRUNK HIGHWAY 12 <br />ADOPTED PRELIMINARY LAYOUT PLAN <br />WHEREAS, the Orono City Council approved the corridor for the upgrade of <br />Highway 12 on October 14,1996; and <br />WHEREAS, since that time the Cities of Orono, Long Lake and Wayzata have been <br />working with Mn/DOT on the development of a preliminary layout for the new highway and <br />relocated railroad; and <br />WHEREAS, Mn/DOT provided initial layout pla o the Cities on October 28,1998 <br />for review and comment; and <br />WHEREAS, the City provided comments in r ter dated March 23, 1999; and <br />WHEREAS, Mn/DOT has revised the prel' nary layout to reflect Orono’s key <br />objectives specifically related to the preliminary layout; ar <br />WHEREAS, Mn/DOT provided the O with the final preliminary layout on <br />September 7,1999; and <br />WHEREAS, Mn/DOT held a public 1 ring/open house on November 17,1999 to <br />obtain comments regarding the preliminary layout; s i <br />WHEREAS, the prel iminaiy' layout equately addresses the concerns and objectives <br />of the City related specifically to the preliminaiy I out; and <br />WHEREAS, the City has a numb of additional objectives related to the Highway <br />12 project that are not a part of the preliminary pproval, but will be addressed during the final <br />design phase; and <br />WHEREAS, the City’s approvr >fthe preliminary layout is based on a continuation <br />of a positive working relationship with Mn/T T that ensures ongoing open communication and <br />1 age 1 of2
