213944v6 <br />18.1 For determining an employee’s vacation accrual rate, years of service will include all <br />continuous time the employee has worked at the city (including authorized unpaid leave). <br />Employees who are rehired after terminating city employment will not receive credit for <br />their prior service. <br /> <br />Years of Service Accrual Rate <br /> <br />0 through completion of 5 years 10 days (80) hours <br />6 through completion of 10 years 15 days (120) hours <br />11 through completion of 15 years 18 days (144) hours <br />16 years 19 days (152) hours <br />17 years 20 days (160) hours <br />18 years 21 days (168) hours <br />19 years 22 days (176) hours <br />20 years 23 days (184) hours <br /> <br />18.2 Employees will not be allowed to accrue more than 240 hours of vacation leave. Once an <br />employee accrues 240 hours they will not accrue additional time unless the number of <br />hours drops below 240. <br /> <br />18.4 Vacation leave with pay may not be taken unless it has been earned. Vacation can be <br />requested in increments as small as hour increments and up to 160 hours of the total accrued <br />leave balance. <br /> <br />18.5 Employees are allowed to transfer accrued vacation to sick leave for another employee <br />under certain health related circumstances. The City reserves the right of transfer on a case- <br />by-case basis. <br /> <br />18.6 Employee who terminates employment, in good standing, with vacation leave time <br />remaining shall be paid for their accrued vacation leave. <br /> <br />18.7 For the purpose of accumulating additional vacation leave an employee using vacation, <br />comp time used or on paid sick leave is considered to be working. If a paid holiday falls <br />during an employee’s vacation, the employee will not be charged vacation time for the <br />period of the holiday. <br /> <br />ARTICLE 19 – SICK LEAVE <br /> <br />19.1 All regular full-time Employees shall earn sick leave at the rate of eight (8) hours each <br />month. Employees shall accrue up a maximum of nine hundred and sixty (960) hours. In <br />addition, any hours over 960 hours accrued shall go into a catastrophic sick leave bank <br />which may be used any time the person is sick for more than 30 consecutive calendar days. <br />The maximum accrued in this bank is 320 hours and is not useable for severance purposes <br />in article 19.3. <br />
