III. Sanitary Sewer
The proposed sanitary sewer for the Webber Hills area i'.. ith.-v/n on F» t, 2 rc ’icw of
the project site indicates the routes shown on the figures are a-. ** < * <
standpoint.
Figure 2 shows a gravity sewer system. The proposed gravity sewer tvould be const: j: • a. -.,v
in the roadway on Webber Hills Road and Shevlin Drive using ih-: traditional open ct‘
Sewer installation along Willow Drive will also be installed using the open cut method r.:.d V \
of the road as much as possible. The sewer segments across Lots 3,4, 10,1 a and Lots 1 and 'I is
shown on Figure 2 will be directionally bored to minimize restoration to residential propertie: >iil
flows will be directed to a lift station located near the intersection of W»l; ;w and Shevlin Drives. The
lift station would pump flows southerly along Willow Drive to an exis..ug gravity manhole located
approximately 2400 feet south of Shevlin Drive. Mainline pipe will be 8-inches in diameter and
either HDPE or PVC depending on the method of installation.
Sewer services to each home will be 4-inches in diameter. Services will be extended to the property
line. The actual connection between the home and the sewer stub will be the property owner's
responsibility.
The construction of a gravity sewer will require complete reconstruction of Shevlin Drive, Webber
Hills Road and portions of Willow Drive. Disturbed street areas will be restored to the original
width with 1 V2 inches of bitununous wear course, 2 inches of bituminous base course, 10 inches of
aggregate base and geotextile stabilization fabric. All driveways will be restored to match existing
surfacing. Disturbed boulevard areas will be sodded or reseeded.
A pressure sewer system (Figure 3) was considered as an alternative to the gravity sewer design.
The pressure system would utilize a common forcemain installed along the edge of the existing
roads. The pressure system would outlet at the same existing manhole as the proposed gravity
system. Sewer services would be extended to each property, terminating with a curb stop (shut ofO
at the property line. A residential grinder station that would pump flows from the home to the
forcemain along the street would serve each property. Each resident would be responsible for all
costs associated with the installation, maintenance and operation of the grinder station. The residents
would also bear the cost for the installation of the service line between the grinder station and the
Webber Hills Sanitary Sewer Improvements
