This area has the smallest size residential lots eliminating the <br />possibility of recreation on individual lots. <br />(One of the previous park goals in the old comp, plan Is that <br />individuals would recreate in their own yard.) This is doabl^' on five <br />acre lots but not half acre lots. <br />D. Friends of the Park Awards, for 1998, (nominations) <br />Acknowledgment of Adopt a Park Volunteers for 1998. <br />Proposed Ceremony/Reception before April 26“* Council Meeting <br />a. The park commission has the following Nominations for the “Friends of <br />Orono's Parks Award. <br />Lake Minnetonka School Students for their work on the March for Parks <br />weekend last April. <br />Antoine neighborhood for their redevelopment effort for Antoine Park <br />Acknowledgment of Adopt a Park Volunteers for 1998. With the work the <br />adopt a park volunteers did over the last year the park commission would like the <br />Council formally recognize their work. The Park Commission would like to Install <br />signs in all of the adopted parks to recognize the families or organizations who <br />have assisted the city with the maintenance of our parks. (Signs would be similar <br />to the “adopt a highway" except the signs would be smaller) <br />Award Ceremony The park commission this year, due to the suggestion of <br />Councilmen Sansevere, would like the Mayor and entire City Council to present <br />the awards and acknowledgments at or before the April 26"’ Council Meeting. <br />E. New Highway 12 Park Commission Park Open Space and Traii Goals <br />Now that the boundaries are. or will soon be finalized, the Park Commissioners <br />would like the opportunity to identify potential areas that the City could negotiate <br />with MOOT to develop parks, and trail connections. One example would be <br />adding a trail around and through the proposed holding ponds south of the RR <br />tracks and between Willow and old Crystal Bay. This trail could connect Willow <br />and Old Crystal Bay Road. Another possibility would be a trail along the new <br />highway from Old Crystal Bay Road to the proposed community play fields. <br />F.Saga Hill Neighborhood Park <br />The neighborhood is running out of time and potential donors to raise the funds <br />to purchase the proposed additional land for the Saga Hill Scenic and Natural <br />-6- <br />L.
