Install paths with benches <br />and maybe a flag pole. This is one of the “gateways ” to the <br />Navarre shopping district <br />d. Update the play equipment that was originally installed in the early <br />70 ’s with new equipment. Homes in this area the last few years <br />have been bought by young couples with children. <br />e. Extend the sidewalk along County 19 at least an additional block to <br />the north so It will run along the park property. Connect this <br />sidewalk to other sidewalks within the park. <br />f. Expand Navarre Park toward the parking lot and relocate the street <br />and/or expand the park into the surrounding neighborhood. <br />Another possibility would be to give the residents additional parks <br />and/or recreation opportunities. <br />3. Navarre Municipal Parking Lot/Park Parking Lot <br />d. Fix parking lot, repaint stripes and pick up rubbish weekly. <br />e. Fix up and/or screen the back of the stores & trash containers. <br />Pick up construction debris, pipes, gas cans, gas meters etc. <br />f. Develop a business district objective, <br />with tax increment financing etc. go after development for this area. <br />Develop a master plan and develop a business district with a small <br />town appearance similar to Excelsior and not a strip mall like the <br />south side of Hwy.12 In Long Lake. <br />Why should the city improve Navarre park and offer additional recreation <br />opportunities? <br />a. <br />b. <br />Over 400 homes/families are within one mile of Navarre Park and <br />live In the Navarre area or over 1,100 men women and children. <br />Over 1/6 of Orono's current residential lots are within one mile of <br />Navarre Park. <br />-5-
