if <br />•’i <br />t-te. <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />CO(.«,^„ M5ETINQ <br />JUN I 2 2000 <br />^"’''runOUQ <br />DATE: June 7,2000 <br />ITEM NO: / J) <br />Department Approval: <br />Name Ron Moorse <br />Title City Administrator <br />Administrator Reviewed:Agenda Section: <br />City Administrator's <br />Report <br />Item Description: Minnesota Board of Government innovation and Cooperation Grant <br />Application <br />In addition to its responsibility for reviewing and approving the Long Lake/Orono plan for <br />cooperation and consolidation, the Minnesota Board of Government Innovation and Cooperation <br />(BGIC) also is responsible for authorizing tlie disbursement of grant funds to assist cities in the <br />process of implementing a plan for consolidation. <br />The Cities of Orono and Long Lake are eligible for consolidation grant frmds of up to $100,000 per <br />year for four years. To be eligible for this funding in 2001, a grant application must be submitted <br />to, and approved by, the BGIC by June 30,2000. The grant application, and a resolution authorizing <br />the submittal of the application, is attached. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED: <br />Motion to adopt the attached resolution authorizing the submittal of a consolidation grant application <br />to the Minnesota Board of Government Innovation and Cooperation. <br />*1
