(AET) is pleased to offer Special Inspection and
Construction Testing Services to the City of Orono (hereafter referred to as the Client) for
the referenced project. This proposal has been prepared in response a recent RFP and
describes our understanding of the project, our anticipated scope of services, our unit
rates, and an estimated total fee to perform these services.
GEOTECHNICAL INFORMATION
We performed a geotechnical exploration and analysis for this project. The results were
presented in our Report of Geotechnical Exploration and Review, March 22, 2022 (AET
Report No. P-0008741). In the report, the site soil profile is generalized as topsoil and fill
underlain by natural glacial till. We recommended in the report that the proposed building
be supported by conventional spread footings after corrective earthwork to remove the
existing topsoil and fill to the underlying naturally deposited till soils. Refer to that report
for more details regarding site conditions and recommendations.
PROJECT INFORMATION
We understand the proposed construction will be a new public works facility. We further
understand the building will:

Have one above-grade level with mezzanines.
Have a first-floor elevation range from 90’-0” to 100’-0”.
Have approximate overall plan dimensions of 540 feet by 140 feet.
Be supported by conventional spread footings designed using an allowable soil
bearing pressure of 4,000 pounds per square foot (psf).
Have bottom-of-footing elevations ranging from 85’-0” to 95’-0” for the perimeter
footings.
