The purpose of this action item is to approve the Special Inspection and Construction <br />Testing Contract for the New Public Works facility Project. <br /> <br />2. Background. On October 10th, 2022 Council awarded the contract to build the new Public Works <br />facility. A contract with materials testing firm is required to complete all of the testing required as part of <br />the project. <br /> <br />3. Scope of Work. The scope of services includes: excavation observation & soils testing; reinforcing <br />steel observations; concrete testing; floor flatness testing; masonry testing; welded and bolted connection <br />observations; infiltrometer testing; anchor testing; and bituminous testing. <br /> <br />4. Cost. The city solicited a proposal from American Engineering Testing (AET) who had previously <br />completed the geotechnical evaluation of the site. Invoicing will be based on unit rates with the <br />estimated total cost of $43,338.20. <br /> <br />5. Funding. Construction will be funded by the Facilities Fund. <br /> <br />6. Staff Recommendation. I recommend acceptance of the AET proposal for Special Inspections and <br />Construction Testing. <br /> <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Move to approve the proposal form AET and authorize the City Engineer to sign the contract. <br /> <br />Exhibits <br />A.
