o
MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING HELD JULY 5, 1972
Wilbur Westerdahl represented himself in an
application to vacate a fire lane next to
1535 Lon» Lake Boulevard. Kullberg stated
he had met with the Long Lake Fire Department
and was told that vacating the lane could
raise insurance rates from Class in to Class
11 in the entire area; also, that in the
event of a fire the lane could be used to
assist firemen obtain necessary water.
Kullberg was of the opinion that before any
lane not in a water area was vacated, the
interested fire departments should be
consulted as to the advisability of sUch
a vacation. Tiie legality of sellirig such
property was brought up. Searles opined
that such property could not be sold.
Mr. LeVahn, Mr. Westerdahl's septic authority,
was asked if an adequate Septic system could
be installed if a variailce were granted to
use his property for drainfield right up
to the fire lane instead of maintaining the
10* side setback and he thought it could.
Searles moved, Kullberg seconded, that it be
recommended that the street vacation be
denied but a variance be granted to use the
property up to the property line on the west
side abutting the fire lane.
