All pool piping and the installation and construction of the pool piping <br />lystem shall be in accordance with the approved plans. The entire pool pipi^ lyilem shall bo <br />tested with an air test of 50 PSl and proved light before covering or concealing. <br />Section 330:30. Treatment an^ Pool Water Oualilv. Gaseous chlorinating systems shall <br />not be used as a disinfecting method for residential swimming pools. Residential swimming pools <br />shall meet the foilowi.-.g standards: <br />Free Chlorine. The free chlorine content shall be maintained between five-tenths <br />(0.5) and one (1 .0) parts per million. (High-free residual chlorine may be used.) <br />Alkalinity. Tlie pH level shall be roainlaincd at bct\veen 7.1 and 7.8. (A higher pH <br />is permitted if high-free residual chlorination is used.) <br />Bacteriological Quality. A sample of swimming pool water shall be considered <br />satisfactory when the total bacterial count at 35® centigrade does not exceed 200 <br />colonies per milliliter and no organisms of the E. Coli group are present In a 10 <br />milliliter portion or 100 milliliter portion as determined by the membrane filter <br />ractliod. If more than one sample out of seven collected on different dates is <br />unsatisfactory, the baclcrial quidity of the pool water will bo considered <br />unsatisfactory. Procedures and interpretation relating to bacteriological quality <br />shall be done in accordance with the Standard Methods for the Examination of <br />Water, Sewage and Industrial Wastes, 1 1th edition (1960). <br />Section 330:32. Indicator Kit. An indicator kit capable of measuring free chlorine residuals in <br />swimming pool water ranging fiom one-tenth to one par* • rr million shall be provided. <br />An indicator kit capable of measuring the degree of alkalinity (pH) of the pool water ranging from <br />6.8 to 8.0 shall also be provided. (If high-free residual chlorination is used, kits capable of <br />measuring higher values shall be provi^d.) <br />Section 330:34. Rone and Anchors. A safety rope and anchors shall be provided at the <br />water line when tlie designed pool operating water level is 4'/j feci or less. <br />Section 330:36. Rleetrical Reouirements <br />a AM electrical installations provided for, installed and used in conjunction with <br />resident* J swimming pools shall conform with the City Code. <br />b. No current-carrying electrical conductors shall cross residential swimming pools, <br />* either overiieod or underground or within 15 feet of such pools, except as <br />necessary for pool lighting or pool accessories.
