NAVARRE ’S DOG DAYS OF SUMMER
AUGUST 10.2002
The enclosed information outlines the details and description for Navarre ’s Dog Days
of Summer event scheduled for August 10.2001.
The calendar of events on Saturday will include the following;
• Dog Days Parade —participants to bring their pets
• Kids Activities at the park
r • Merchant sates
• Live entertainment
• Main event to be tocated behind The Narrows Saloon
• Scheduled time is 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
• Beer and bottled water will be served within this timeframe
We ‘estimate ” the attendance for this event between 200'300 people (maximum)
throughout the 4-hour period. We based this estimate on similar Twin Cities events
that draw this attendance.
The site plan is enciosed and outlines the fenced areas and the entrances and exits
(includes the back entrance at The Narrows Saloon). ID will be checked at these
points and some form of status will be provided for ‘of age ” participants (i.e.
wristbands/handstamp). This will ensure the sale of beer to the appropriate
individuals. The site plan also shows the placement of the temporary toilets and the
beer trailer. Hard liquor will not be served or consumed in the fenced area.
Parking in the public lot will allow more than enough space as we are counting at
least 93 spaces in the public lot and an additional 7 at the minimum in the private
lots (including Daghmer*s Unique Stuff. True Value. D'Vinci's. behind Lakeshore
Interiors ’ building in the back, and on Shoreline Drive). Included are 2 petitions of
support from the affected merchants/neighbor.
The route for this event will be exits in and out of the parking lot off Lyric from 19 and
off of Shoreline Drive by D'Vinci ’s. Through traffic will be blocked on Lyric at the SW
side of the park at the commencement of the day and continue through 8:00 PM.
Last year the city provided the blockade. It is assumed that this will occur again this
year.
The Police Department indicated the need to post Fire Lane-No Parking signs from
Lyric from the rear of Dittrich ’s residence and Daghmeris Unique Stuff to fenced area
to create unobstructed access. Signage is already posted for Resident Parking only
at the street at the rear of Dittrich ’s and Mr Dittrich will be available to ensure
compliance. There was also a concern about a sign posted for ‘Illegally Parked
Cars Will Be Towed ” off Lyric. A request will be made to Public Works if it is deemed
to be an issue.
