7- <br />In addition to his ongoing consulting work, Jim is an accomplished speaker, motivator, <br />teacher, and writer. He speaks regularly on subjects such as organizational change, <br />leadership, morale, culture and the societal impacts of business change. <br />Jim is certified by the ARBINGER CONSULTING GROUP to teach personal <br />responsibility and organizational dynamics. His own model, called, **The LEADERSHIP <br />CONTINUUM", lays out the stages one goes through to achieve “true" leadership and is <br />continually received enthusiastically by a variety of executive audiences and teams. <br />lim is presently representing the City of Orono, Minnesota in negotiations with the State <br />Department of Transportation regarding highway construction issues, is on the joint <br />negotiating team that successfully facilitated the MnDOT buyout of the Long Lake City <br />Hall, Fire Station, and maintenance facility and is a Orono representative on the joint <br />building conunittee charged with design and construction of a new fire station. <br />Jim’s academic lecturing and teaching include the Kellogg Graduate School, <br />Northwestern University, and the University of Denver. Jim, as a member of the adjunct <br />faculty at the University of Denver developed and taught “Ethics in Action", and the <br />“Rise and Fall of the Bell System". <br />His writing on, “Organizational Diagnosis" is featured in the current American <br />Management Association Human Resources Handbook. <br />Jim and his wife, Sandee Smith, have been Orono, Minnesota residents for 14 years and <br />reside on “The Old Orchard Farm" in Orono. <br />January 2002 <br />1 ^iii.d iHll^
