BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH <br />James L. Murphy, doing business as JLM International, has spent the last 15 years <br />specializing in “The Art and Science of Leadership". <br />Prior to establishing his present consulting practice Jim was the senior internal consultant <br />to the Chairman, President, OfTicers, and management team at US WEST, a major global <br />teleconununications company. In this role, he consulted regularly to the Office of the <br />Chairman executive team, worked personally with members of the Senior Leadership <br />team, directed a team of Organizational Development consultants, directed succession <br />planning and recruiting for the Corporation, and directed the national award winning, <br />“Women of Color Project”. As Executive Director, Leadership and Organizational <br />Development, he designed and taught numerous executive corporate workshops on <br />strategy and “change". The most recent, “Issues and Strategies", was the prime leadership <br />conference series for 1000 senior managers and company officers, it began in 1986 and <br />ran continuously for 8 years. <br />Before US WEST, Jim was employed at Northwestern Bell and AT&T. He graduated in <br />1965 from the University of Nebraska with a degree in Business Administration. <br />In his current practice, Jim continues to provide a wide range of consulting services to <br />organizations and e.xecutivcs in the international, regional, and local arenas. I'hese <br />services cover the full spectrum; from personal, one-on-one coaching, to the design of <br />and teaching in high impact meetings and conferences on strategy, vision, leadership, <br />teamwork, and change management. <br />In the not-for-profit sector, Jim has consulted with and facilitated strategy development <br />sessions for executive teams of the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce Board, Colorado <br />UPlifi, Minneapolis Foundation Itasca Conference, Arts Midwest, the National Sports <br />Center for the Disabled, and the Minnesota Transportation Museum. <br />In the International arena, Jim has designed and taught multiple week-long executive <br />leadership conferences for one of the top 3 global strategy consulting firms. He consults <br />in Indonesia and Taiwan with joint venture firms and is consulting with the CEO and <br />senior leadership team of an international training company.
