<br />2 <br />c. Gross misconduct, including but not limited to, a conviction of a felony or equivalent <br />level offense or a conviction for an illegal act committed for the purpose of personal gain to Fire <br />Chief. <br /> <br />Should the City terminate the employment of the Fire Chief without cause, he will receive six <br />(6) months’ severance pay and benefits at the rate and levels then in effect for the Fire Chief (but <br />excluding access to a take-home vehicle). <br /> <br />If the Fire Chief decides to separate from employment, he will provide the City with a <br />minimum of 30 days’ notice of his intent to separate. <br /> <br />5. Minnesota Public Employees Retirement System (PERA): City will contribute at the <br />same rate as other employees as provided by Minnesota Law. The employee may also <br />participate in one of the City’s approved deferred compensation plans. <br /> <br />6. Insurance Coverage: The Fire Chief will be provided insurance coverage at the same rate <br />as other non-bargained City employees. Insurance coverage will be effective per the City of <br />Orono’s policy. <br /> <br />7. Vacation: The Fire Chief will start employment accruing vacation at a rate of 160 hours <br />per year, and vacation will accumulate at the same rate and in the same manner as other non- <br />bargained employees, pursuant to the City Personnel Policy. Fire Chief’s original hire date with <br />the Department of Long Lake shall be used to calculate vacation accrual. The City of Orono will <br />provide a starting balance of 80 hours of vacation. <br /> <br />8. Sick Leave: The Fire Chief will accumulate sick leave at the same rate and in the same <br />manner as other non-bargained employees, pursuant to the City Personnel Policy. It is recognized that the Fire Chief must devote a great deal of time outside the normal <br />office hours on business for the City, and to that end the Fire Chief shall be allowed to establish <br />an appropriate work schedule, subject to the approval of the City Administrator, which shall not <br />be unreasonably withheld. Similar to the arrangement with other department heads. <br /> <br />10. Business Expenses: City will reimburse the Fire Chief for all reasonable employment <br />related expenses per the City Personnel Policy. <br /> <br />11. Take-Home Vehicle: The City will provide the Fire Chief with a take-home vehicle for <br />use conducting city business, including but not limited to, transportation to and from work at the <br />City of Orono. <br /> <br />12. Phone: The Fire Chief will be provided a city owned cell phone or cell phone monthly <br />allowance in accordance with City Personnel Policy. <br /> <br />13. Uniform Allowance: The City will pay for all required fire uniforms and equipment <br />replacement costs.
