<br /> <br /> <br />CITY OF ORONO <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />NO. 7035 <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE APPLICATION <br />FOR A HENNEPIN COUNTY YOUTH SPORTS PROGRAM GRANT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners, via the Hennepin Youth Sports Program, <br />provides for capital funds to assist local government units of Hennepin County for the development of <br />sports or recreational facilities, and <br />WHEREAS, City of Orono desires to develop a multi-use court and other park improvements at Orono <br />Golf Course for the purposes of providing additional recreational facilities for youth sports within Orono. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Orono City Council: <br />I. The estimate of the total cost of developing the park facility shall be $400,000. The Orono <br />City Council is requesting $ 200,000 from the Hennepin Youth Sports Program and will assume <br />responsibility for providing matching funds of $ 200,000. <br />II. City of Orono is the owner of Orono Golf Course where the courts will be located and shall <br />continue to own the property for at least the functional life of the court, which is estimated to be 20 years. <br />Orono Golf Course may not be converted to a non-public or non-recreational uses within this time period <br />without the approval of Hennepin County. <br />III. City of Orono agrees to assume one hundred (100) percent of operational and maintenance <br />costs for the courts. City of Orono will operate the courts for its intended purpose as stated in the grant <br />application for the functional life of the facility. <br />IV. City of Orono agrees to enter into necessary and required agreements with Hennepin County <br />for the specific purpose of developing project and managing its long-term operation. <br />V.
