Including knowledge of occupational hazards and established safety <br />procedures. <br />•Fleet repair and maintenance principles and practices•Cost and accounting principalsSkills:•Operation and Control — Control operations of equipment or systems. <br />•Problem solving and analytical reasoning <br />•The use of hand tools and diagnostic equipment <br />•understanding of electrical and mechanical equipment generators and <br />related components <br />•The use of radios, telephones, computers and office machines <br />•The use of repair, parts and maintenance manuals (paper and <br />electronic) <br />•Reading and interpretation of diagrams and prints <br />Abilities: <br />•Control precision — Able to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a <br />vehicle to exact positions. <br />•Work independently, productively and safely <br />•Use sound judgment <br />•Follow written and verbal directions <br />•Use computers and associated fleet programs <br />•Keep detailed and accurate records <br />•Provide excellent customer service <br />Minimum Requirements <br />•High School Diploma or equivalent. <br />•Valid MN Class B Driver’s with air brakes . License or ability to obtain within one-year of <br />employment. <br />•Must live within a 30 minute travel time of the Orono public Works facility within one <br />(1)Year of employment. <br />•Satisfactory results from drug test, physical examination, motor vehicle records check, and <br />criminal background investigation. <br />•Completion of two years in automotive & truck mechanics at a vocational college or <br />equivalent <br />•Relevant Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications <br />•Continued education/certification in relevant program/coursework <br />•Specialized schools on ignition and electrical systems. <br />•School on heavy equipment maintenance. <br />•Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. <br />•Ability to physically perform maintenance functions as related to position. <br />•Requires a qualified automotive mechanic with a minimum of five years repair work <br />experience on small engines and a variety of light and heavy and generator equipment.
