The City of Orono is an Equal Opportunity Employer <br />CITY OF ORONO <br />Public Works Mechanic <br />Public Works <br />Public Works Superintendent <br />Non-exempt <br />December 29th, 2021 <br /> Supervision Received and Exercised <br />This position reports to the Public Works Superintendent and does not supervise any other <br />position within the City. <br />Nature of Work <br />This position performs essential functions listed below are intended as illustrations of the <br />various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties <br />does not exclude them if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position. <br />•Performs scheduled maintenance on city owned vehicles and equipment <br />•Performs detailed diagnostic and/or repair/service work on fuel, hydraulic, electrical, <br />exhaust, suspension, steering, braking (air, hydraulic/ABS) drive train, air conditioning, <br />heating and drive line systems. <br />•Performs commercial motor vehicle inspections on City-owned equipment <br />•Orders and tracks parts and supplies to make the necessary diagnosed repairs <br />•Troubleshoot and repair alternating current electrical systems on Diesel and Natural Gas <br />standby generators, automatic transfer switches, generator controls and engine related <br />mechanical failures; and performs routine preventative maintenance, oil and filter changes <br />and annual inspections. <br />•Records parts and labor hours for creation of electronic work orders and invoicing. <br />•Maintains work area and tools for a clean and safe work environment <br />•Maintains a variety of records relating to inspections and maintenance activity. <br />•Insures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking <br />equipment and tools after use. <br />•May adjust, lubricate, or make small repairs to equipment while in use <br />•Drives trucks and operates equipment of various sizes and weights in loading, hauling and <br />unloading various equipment or materials. <br />•Performs all duties in accordance with appropriate safety and security standards. <br />•Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned. <br />Position Title: <br />Department: <br />Accountable to: <br />FLSA Status: <br />Revision Date:
