Financial Strength and Stability
Thanks to the creativity of our coaching staff, our hard-working volunteers, and the dedication and good
stewardship of board members who care about LLRC and are committed to the success of our rowers and
our team,we have operated debt-free for the last 4 years. While it is unusual for a rowing team to
maintain operations without a boathouse,we have continued to thrive despite these operational
challenges.
g. Stewards of Long Lake and the Environment
As lake users, environmental considerations are a primary concern. Our goal is to preserve the natural
integrity of the site while ensuring our building process has minimal impact on the lake and is consistent
with ongoing efforts to improve the water quality of Long Lake. We are in contact with and being advised
110 by the appropriate regulatory organizations, including the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District. Our
operations do not produce pollutants.
Our boats are non-motorized and our two safety launches are non-wake producing.
h. LLRC Program Scope
LLRC will always be considered a small team by rowing community standards. Our goal is to add off-
season, indoor rowing classes in response to growing demand from individuals and groups within the
Orono/Long Lake community. This provides an opportunity for LLRC to share the sport widely without
expanding the club beyond its ability to manage on Long Lake.
•Typically, the combined enrollment in our junior and master programs is approximately 90-95 rowers.
• Our youth (juniors)program serves students from Orono schools(50%), Wayzata schools(40%),and
other West Metro schools(10%).
•Our adult(masters) program, which is nearly the size of our youth program, encompasses enrollment
from surrounding communities within a 20-mile radius.
•
