Position Title: <br />Document Date <br />Department: <br />Accountable to: <br />FLSA Status: <br />Nature of Work <br />CITY OF ORONO <br />Community Service Officer (CSO) <br />October 14th, 2021 <br />Police <br />Deputy Chief <br />Non-exempt <br />The community service officer (CSO) is a non -sworn uniformed person who, under the direction <br />of the Chief of Police or designee, coordinates and provides support services to the Orono Police <br />Department, City of Orono, and contract cities. <br />Supervision Received and Exercised <br />Work is supervised by the Deputy Chief. This position is not responsible for supervising other <br />positions, however a full-time CSO may guide the work of a part-time CSO. <br />Examples of Work <br />Essential functions listed below are intended as illustrations of the various types of work that <br />may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them if the <br />work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position. <br />• Make complete, accurate, timely reports as required. <br />• Routine response to calls (no emergency driving) for assistance on code violations, <br />enforce parking ordinances as directed by Orono Police Officers. <br />• Coordinate/Manage the recovery and inventory of lost, abandoned and confiscated <br />bicycles including the storage, return, disposal and/or tagging of items to be auctioned. <br />• Coordinate and manage all animal control activities, including: respond to animal <br />complaints, issues citations and licenses, apprehends and detains stray animals and <br />collects applicable fees and fines and inspect kennels and stables, makes <br />recommendations for licensing. <br />• Responsible for the purchase and acquisition of department supplies and materials as <br />directed. <br />The City of Orono is an Equal Opportunity Employer <br />
