The purpose of the agenda item is to gain Council approval to appoint a new Maintenance <br />Worker within Public Works. <br /> <br />2. Background. The Public Works Department has six full time maintenance worker positions. The <br />maintenance worker positions are critical to meet current service needs and are essential to City <br />operations. One position is currently unfilled. <br /> <br />3. Recruitment. The selection process for the vacant position has been completed. The process <br />involved application screening, an interview panel, practical exercise testing and background checking. <br /> <br />4. Recommended Candidate. The top candidate is Mr. Justin Mielke. Justin has 7 years of public <br />works experience with Hennepin County and Watertown. <br /> <br />1. Recommended Compensation. I recommended that Mr. Mielke be appointed to the position of <br />Public Works Maintenance Worker effective May 3rd, 2021. <br /> <br />a. Salary. Starting salary of $26.84/hr (Grade 7, Step 2) <br />b. Vacation.
