MINiJTES OF THIE <br /> ORONO CITY COUNCIL 1VIEETING <br /> • iVIondly, October 10, 2005 <br /> 7:00 o'clock p.m. <br /> (#OS-3121 Narrows Saloon, Continued) <br /> White stated the Navan-e area is undergoin� some rapid changes and that the City is looking at firture <br /> development in this area. White stated the City has to plan carefiilly for the future of this area and that the <br /> City at the present time has no altei7iative ai•ea desi��ated for parking. White noted the Men-opolitan <br /> Council is requesting that the cily increase the amount of transit parking spaces in their municipal lot and <br /> that they are also considering other changes with the transit system for this area. White stated it is <br /> difficult to allow one business to use up the majority of the parlcing when many issues are undetennined <br /> at this point in time. <br /> White commented the City has to deal with the Metropolitan Transit and ihe neighbors and that ihe bigger <br /> picture needs to be talcen into consideration. White noted that the report indicates that one business has <br /> 26 designated parking spaces, which needs to be dealt with. <br /> Gaffron noted there is not a tennination date listed in the resolution for those parlcing spaces. <br /> White reconunended the person be biven 12 months to apply for a pernlit, and if no pennit is applied for <br /> during that time, that the right to use the parlcing spaces will terminate. <br /> White reiterated the whole picture should be talcen into account and that in his opinion it is too early in <br /> that process to approve this application. <br /> McT�lillan inquired whether the type of inusic would change witll the expansion. <br /> Sudheimer stated 1t this time she does not plan to change the type of Uooltings, but noted that during the <br /> weelc only two piece musieians are allowed and that the full bands are oi�ly boolced on the���eelcends. <br /> Sudheinler indieated she is trying tolceep it more low Icey during the weelc as well as inerease the food <br /> sales. <br /> McMillan stated the Council does have a concern with the music drawing people fi•om outside the <br /> Navane area, which would change the I�Tan-ows Saloon fi•om being a neighborhood bar into more of a <br /> regioiial entertainment spot. <br /> Sudheimer stated her focus is not the entertainment aspect. <br /> McMillan inquired «�hat the motivation is for the outdoor seating area. <br /> Sudheimer stated with tlie smol:ing ban,people now 51a11C� Ol'�V1�IC �il'OU11C� 111� U1111CI111�T 511101C1i1�, and that <br /> Si1C' 15 ll'yl]1f�T t0 C011fllle tI1G'Ill 11110 OI1C' fll'ec1. .SL1ClilClll181' SlSted tI1C11'UL1S111eSS c11S0 d0C1'ec15eS 1I1 l'l1B SL1111111eT <br /> 17�CallSe iJ�O]��e I1�C� t0 Si�OL11Slde.
