MINUTES OF THE � <br /> ORONO CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br /> Nlonday, October 10, 2005 _ <br /> 7:00 o'clock p.m. <br /> (#OS-3121 Narrows Saloon, Continued) <br /> Frank stated parking appears to Ue a big issue for the businesses in this area, and recommended that the <br /> City review the layout of ihe parking lot. <br /> Peterson indicated the numUer of stalls mioht decrease if they are striped according to code. <br /> Peterson stated she also concurs with Council Members Sansevere and Mui-�hy regarding the parking in <br /> this area,but that l�er biggest concern is the atmosphere of the community and how the Nan•ows Saloon <br /> started as a neighUorhood bar but is now turning into an estaUlislunent that is drawing from a wider <br /> region. Peterson stated it might Ue time to consider relocating the Narrows Saloon where more parlcing is <br /> available on site. <br /> Sudheimer stated in her opinion this establishment will continue to improve and attract more people. <br /> Sudlleimer stated any successfill Uusiness is going to ath�act people whether the Narrows Saloon or <br /> another business is located on this site and that the parlcing lot is going to be fiill. <br /> Peterson stated noise from nlotorcycles is also a concern. <br /> Sudheimer stated in the suminertime motorcyclists drive out to the lalce and that more motorcyclists <br /> frequent Lard Fletchers than their establishment. <br /> Mui�hy stated the type of clientele would change if the ltind of music being played changed. <br /> Sansevere stated he was under the impression that the expansion was being driven by the restaurant side <br /> of the business. <br /> Sudheimer stated it is difficult to tell from this print,but that there is a wall separating the bar from the <br /> restaurant area. <br /> McMillan inquired wliat tlle mimbers would Ue for the restaurant. McMillan noted the cui7ent occupancy <br /> is 145. <br /> Franlc stated for the restatuant 15 square feet per occupant is being talcen into consideration. The building <br /> consists of 698 square feet, for a total of 247 occupants for the entire Uuilding, which also includes the <br /> outside seating area. Pranlc stated ihe storage and lcitchen areas also have occupants that are included in <br /> the calculation,which brings the total up to 265. <br /> Wliite stated parlcing management is one of the important ways to help support businesses and that the <br /> City needs to do a better joU of managing the parlcing in this area. White stated everyoiie has to Ue ireated <br /> fairly with the parl<ing even if it is a municipal parlcing lot. <br /> PAG� 1� <br />
