Tuition Reimbursement Policy <br /> 1'1ge 2 of 3 � <br /> 1. Applicaiions for tuition reimbursement will be received and reviewed in <br /> October and June of each year. Applications will be received by October <br /> 15 for the upcoming semester of the new year. Applications will be <br /> received by June 15 for the fall semester. The employee will be <br /> responsible for filling out the Tuition Reimbursement Application Porm, <br /> completing an �ducaiional Planning Statement and turning it in to the <br /> employee's department head. After review, the dep�rtment head shall <br /> forward the application and stateinent to the City Administrator with a <br /> written recommendation. The department head shall promptly complete <br /> the review and forward the information to the City Aciministrator. <br /> Improper or inadequate applications and/or statements shall be returned to <br /> the employee. <br /> 2. Upon receipt of the Tuition Reimbursement Application Form and the <br /> Educational P1lnning Stateinent, the City Administrator shall approve or <br /> disapprove the application on a case by case basis based upon whether or <br /> not the employee's request is consistent with the inission and goals of the <br /> Department and the City of Orono, and whether or not there are adequate <br /> fiinds available to meet the employee's reimbursement request. The City <br /> Administrator shall notify the department head and employee on the <br /> outcome. The review process will be completed promptly, so that <br /> employees will know the final status of their reimbursement requests, <br /> including the reimbursement amount, by November 30 and July 30. <br /> 3. The employee shall be responsible for providing the department head with <br /> evidence of satisfactory completion of approved class(es) within 30 days <br /> of receipt of grades showing course completion. For reinibursement <br /> purposes, satisfactory completion of the course means at least a grade of <br /> "B" or a "Satisfactory/Pass" and at least a 3.0 GPA. Any grade less then a <br /> "B", "Satisfactory/Pass" or lower GPA then a 3.0 shall result in no tuition <br /> cost reimbursemeilt for the employee. If the class is not completed, or no <br /> grade obtained, the City would not pay. <br /> 4. It shall be the employee's responsibility to provide the department head <br /> with tl�e necessaiy tuition receipts for class(es) approved by the City <br /> Administrator. <br /> .03 Eligibility: <br /> 1. Non-probationary, fiill-time employees in good standing shall be eligiUle <br /> for this program. <br /> 2. An employee who leaves the employ of the City of Orono is no longer an <br /> employee in good standing will no longer be eligible for reimbursement. <br /> 3. �mployees are also ineligible if they are receiving educational suUsidies in <br /> the foim of grants, scholarships or other tuition reimbtu•sement for the <br /> same course. <br />
