There are predominantly two types of <br /> criminal g <br /> Apprehension ASTs that are used for this operation; one is the Underwriters Laboratories(UL) listed 142 <br /> capitol Security steel AST(both single and double wall) and the other is the listed 2-hour fire protected AST <br /> that is built to U1.2085 or other nationally recognized standard. <br /> Crime vlcaim <br /> Services The Minnesota State Fire Marshal Division is required to conduct a plan review and <br /> Driver&vehicle inspection for both of these AST installations when dispensing flammable(gasoline) or <br /> services combustible (diesel fuel) liquids into motor vehicles.Proposed 'installations will need local <br /> Emergency approval (permit) and MN Pollution Control Agency and/or Department of Natural Resources <br /> Management 1 approval when necessary. Code Specialists are available at the State Fire Marshal Division to <br /> Emergency answer any questions on these requirements from the Minnesota Uniform Fire Code. Installations are only allowed when approved by the local fire chief. <br /> State Patrol 2. Dispensers shall be located a minimum of 10-feet from buildings and property lines. <br /> Traffic safety when the hose is fully extended, the nozzle shall be no closer than 5-feet from building <br /> openings. The dispensers shall also be located twenty feet or more from fixed sources of <br /> ignition. This is not the only separation requirement• there are additional rules that apply <br /> for separation between the tank and buildin s and also the tank and diVenser.These can <br /> be found on page 3 or 4 depending on the type of tank installed. <br /> 3. Dispensing hoses for automotive dispensing are limited to l8-feet. At marine or aircraft <br /> fuel dispensing stations, the hoses are allowed to be longer. <br /> 4. ASTs shall be provided with secondary containment that will hold the volume of the <br /> largest AST within the secondary containment area. Examples include dikes, drainage <br /> control,listed double wall ASTs, and listed secondary containment built into the AST. <br /> �► Dispensing and fill piping shall not penetrate a dike. <br /> 5. ASTs shall be protected by spWage, and overfill as required by the local fire chief <br /> 6. ASTs shall have vehicle impact protection, such as guard posts,to provide protection of <br /> connected piping,valves, fittings and storage tanks.
