3.3 INSTALLATION OF INSULATION ON BALLASTED ROOF <br /> A. Loosely lay insulation board stock over the roof deck in two layers with the joints staggered one-half <br /> width and length of board below. <br /> B. Neatly cut to fit insulation around roof openings and projections. <br /> C. Lay no more insulation than can be covered by roofing membrane in same day. <br /> D. Leave surface clear of debris,ready to receive roofing. <br /> 3.4 INSTALLATION OF ROOF MEMBRANE ON BALLASTED SYSTEM <br /> A. Verify all construction details with factory representative prior to beginning installation. <br /> B. Factory representative shall visit the site during application. <br /> C. Install all materials according to manufacturer's written instructions. <br /> D. Loose lay roof membrane over insulation and install 10 lbs.of ballast per square foot of roof area. The t` <br /> ballast application shall be 15 Ibs/sq.ft.at corners and 12 lbs/sq.ft.along the perimeter. <br /> E. Bond roof membrane and flashings with bonding adhesive to all curbs,flashings and roof edges. This <br /> is a must for all roof systems. Lap and bond roof membrane to seal joint between bottom of wood <br /> curbs and top of wall construction at roof edge. <br /> 3.5 TESTING <br /> A. All roof areas shall be tested prior to installation of aggregate ballast. The tests shall be delayed at <br /> least 48 hours after the application of EPDM membrane. <br /> B. Testing may be carried out by flooding the entire roof or in sections. The roof or the sections shall be <br /> flooded to a minimum water depth of 2 inches. Scuppers and overflow openings may be temporarily <br /> blocked during flooding operation. <br /> C. Areas where leaks are observed shall be thoroughly dried repaired and retested. Ballast shall not be <br /> installed before the ENGINEER approves the testing. <br /> 3.6 PROTECTION OF PARTIALLY COMPLETED ROOF • <br /> A. Temporary enclosures shall be constructed to prevent moisture from entering under roof system. Use <br /> only the materials and methods recommended by the manufacturer. <br /> 3.7 WARRANTY INSPECTION <br /> A. Before the expiration of the manufacturer's warranty period,the manufacturer or his authorized <br /> representative shall meet with the OWNERS representative for a final inspection. At this time defects <br /> and deficiencies in roofing and flashing shall be repaired at no additional cost.
