MTNUTES OF THE REGULAR OR�NO PARK COIVIMISSION <br /> MEETING HELD ON APRIL 7, 1997 <br /> (#12 - Antoine Park - Continued) <br /> Gappa reported staf�s recomtnendation is for the purchase and installation of Landscape <br /> Structures equipment from Earl Andersan af Bloomingtan. Another company did provide <br /> a comparison. The equipment will be purchased from one vendor. The other projects vvill <br /> be done separately. The pea gravel will be purchased under the equipment and material <br /> bidding. Beal asked ifthe City is pursuing the assistance of neighborhood volunteers for <br /> the installaxion. Gappa said it was logistically greferred that the equipment company <br /> install the Pquipment. Gappa asked that the neighbors assist with park maintenance. <br /> Gappa pravided cost comparisons with other recent park equipment improvements. <br /> VVilson ma�,�ed, Itse seconded, to recommend the equipment be purchased from Landscape <br /> Structures in the amount of$23,166 as noted in Pian A; site excavation at a cost of <br /> $5,100, pea gravel surfacing at $2,004, and handicapped access costs at $3,000 for a total <br /> of$33,266. Vote: Ayes 4, Nays 0. <br /> Beal inquire� about seeding and sadding. Gappa said this would be performed by the <br /> public works department. The parking lot is included. Gappa said the park review will <br /> enable them to frne tune this issue. <br /> Vtlilson asked that Gappa present the building demotitian as a separate issue and the cost <br /> be incurred fram City funds. <br /> The eommittee will decide an the colors for the ec�uipment and meet after the Council <br /> meeting ta make that determination. The committee will be requested to attend the <br /> Coun�sl meeting by Gappa. Wilson asked that the neighborhood graup be infarmed of the <br /> plans prior to the meeting. <br /> The time frarne for the arrival of the equipment will be 6-8 weeks. Grading will be <br /> performed ance the equipment has arrived. The projected date of completion is the end of <br /> � June. <br /> McDermott noted the need for a number of�hanges if a handicap statl was provided. <br /> Gappa said he would review this issue. McDermott said a handicap parking stall requires <br /> signaDe and of a size for van parking. <br /> BEDERVVOOD BASKETBALL COURT <br /> Janelle Shields, 357� Christine Drive, Maple Plain, asked for an update on a previous <br /> request for a basketball court at Bederwood. She originally made this request last year. <br /> Wilson noted the Commission responds to neighborhood requests. She asked, however, <br /> that the park pian needs to be reviewed prior to making any decision regarding this issue. <br /> She noted the cost is a concern. <br /> g <br />
