MINUTES OF THE REGUI,AR ORONO PARK �OMMISSION <br /> MEETING HELD ON APRIL 7, 1997 <br /> (#4) ADOPT A PARIi VOLUNTEERS' ASSIGNMENTS FOR SUMMER, 1997 <br /> The Park Commissioners reviewed the parks to deter�mine the current volunteer <br /> assignments and where additianal volunteers are needed. <br /> Wilson asked for a system to be established whereby the volunteers can be contacted <br /> regarding continuation of their volunteer assignments from year to year, provide <br /> information regarding what has been dane, and inform Staff of any problems they see. <br /> Gappa indicated that the Tamarack Senior Citizens will cantinue to volunteer at Summit <br /> Beach and Hackberry. <br /> Amelia Kroger cleans up Bederwood and along Stubbs Bay Road to the City dock. <br /> Wilson will contact the Girl Scouts ta det�rmine what troap will be assisting at French <br /> Creek. <br /> The pastmaster at Crystal Bay Post Office maintains the flowers at Crystal Bay. Wilson <br /> suggested the neighbors become involved. It was noted that trees were lost in this park <br /> last year due to lack of water. Ilse said she would call Randi Carlson ta determine what <br /> neighbarhood interest could be raised. <br /> McDermott questioned whether the City has advertised for volunteers in the past. Ilse <br /> suggested the newsletter be used as a vehicle for seeking volunteers. <br /> The Antoine Park Committee will be asked about volunteering for park upkeep at <br /> Antoine. <br /> Highwood does not have any volunteer assistants. Wilsan said she would contact the Boy <br /> Scouts. Wilson indicated there was need for assistance in marking trails and placing <br /> boards over wet areas. Ilse said Lake Minnetanka Environmental School of which she is <br /> af�iliated is nearby and would help this spring in Highwood. <br /> Jim White will be asked regarding volunteers at Casco Point Park. Gappa indicated Jim <br /> Raleigh was willing ta do some planting, The City is planning on perfornung some minor <br /> grading at the park, and Gappa is meeting with Raleigh at the park to discuss the park. <br /> Wilson indicated there is no equipment at the park as it is considered a natural area. <br /> Kelley noted the neighbors are active in maintaining the park. McDermott said there was <br /> a problem with snowmobiles being parked within the park property. <br /> 3 <br />
